Welcome to our new Head Coach

The start of a new year at the club is always exciting. This year however, is particularly exciting for South Canterbury GymSports. We are starting the year on a huge high, with the employment of our new Head Coach, Flaminio Oliveira.

“Hi, I'm Flaminio Oliveira. I was born in Brazil, and I have been involved with gymnastics and movement for my whole life. I owned my own gymnasium for 11 years with my wife and daughter back in my hometown, Natal. I have been in New Zealand for just under 20 years, where I have had the pleasure of coaching everything from preschool all the way to competitive boys and girls teams, as well as being a course presenter for Gymnastics New Zealand. I am excited to begin my journey here in the South Island, and to become a part of the team at South Canterbury Gymnastics here in Timaru.“

We are so excited to have Flaminio join us and so lucky to have his knowledge and experience at the club. You will see him on the floor overseeing some of our recreational classes and taking others. He will also be running our new Pre-School classes as well as being our Head Coach for our Artistic competitive squads. When Flaminio is out and about he loves to take a photo doing handstands…you can see below, he has already been out checking out Timaru. If you see him around please say hello.
